Driving License Category A1
Driving License Category A1 allows you to drive motorized two-wheeled vehicles. Specifically, it allows you to drive mopeds and small motorcycles with engine power of no more than 11 kW.

Prerequisites
You must be at minimum 16 years old in order to obtain a driving licence category A1. This license allows you to drive a light motorcycle, while categories A2 and A are reserved for larger motor vehicles. You must also complete a first aid course and complete theoretical training based on the full curriculum. Different driving schools offer this course. All driving schools follow the same curriculum, even if their prices might differ.
The practical training comprises a number of driving lessons. These lessons are between three and four hours each. The instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of your motorcycle and the fundamental rules of road. The amount of time you spend instruction will be determined by your level and progress, however the program stipulates a minimum of five hours of instruction on roads that are federal and four hours of instruction on country roads. Anyone who wants drive vehicles in the category C must possess a driving license of category B or more. Someone who already holds an endorsement of category B can continue with the training of category A1 using an abbreviated program however, they must complete the minimum requirement of ten theory and ten driving lessons at a driving school. Driving License Category A1 is a great option for teenagers who want to drive of their own vehicle, or for adults who have been driving for a long time but are looking for a new way to commute. However, they may be lifted if you can demonstrate that you have the capacity to safely operate larger vehicles.

Training
To obtain a Driving License category A1, you must pass both the theoretical and practical test. Additionally you must take part in courses in theory and receive training. Theory test
The Driving License Category A1 exam is a two-part test which includes a theory portion and a practical part. The test is designed to give you a basic understanding and knowledge of the highway code. You must pass both tests to obtain your license. You can take the tests before or after you complete compulsory basic training (CBT).
The theory test portion includes 50 multiple-choice options which you have to correctly answer. It is recommended to take the test with a thorough study before you take it, and take a theory course at a recognized driving school or at an ongoing motorcycle training center. Once you have passed the part of the test that is theoretical after which you can make an appointment for the test in the practical. You will receive your driving license within two weeks after you have passed the practical portion of the test. Practical test
The practical test portion of the Driving License Category A1 exam consists of two parts. The first is the examiner checking and getting your motorcycle ready to drive.
